The 2025 Show Schedule is now available for download by clicking here. The entry form is included in the schedule and separate copies can be downloaded here.
The following list summarises the changes between the 2024 Schedule and 2025 Schedule:
- Vegetable Section
- Class 8 - Sweetcorns has been replaced by 3 matching carrots. Of course, sweetcorns can still be entered in the "any other vegetable" class
- Class 17 - Onion collection has been changed to "one over 250g, one under 250g and one shallot any size"
- Flower Section
- The rules for class 31 have been relaxed so that stems of fuchsia can be entered in this class
- Roses Section
- Class 43 - "Vase of 3 blooms of a Hybrid Tea Rose" has been changed to allow one or more cultivars to be displayed
- Pot Plants Section
- Class 55 - "Cactus/Succulent" has been extended to allow multi planting
- Original Writing Section
- Class 60 - The subject for an original limerick is "a gardening theme"
- Domestic Section
- Class 65 - "cinnamon buns" has been replaced by 4 pieces of a traybake (not chocolate brownie)
- Handicraft Section
- Class 78 definition is changed to "Something made from any upcycled or recycled material"
- Photography Section
- Class 83 (unframed) Old Basing & Lychpit Scenes
- Class 84 (unframed) Abandoned or discarded
- Class 85 (mounted on card) Water in motion
- Drinks Section
- Class 90 - Ginger beer has been replaced by "a smoothie"
- Childrens Section
- Class 99 (Children 11 and under) - A painting or drawing, not more than A4 size
- Class 100 (Children 12 to 15) - A painting, drawing, sculpture, model or photo (no kits)
- Prize money for all classes in the Children's section has been increased to First - £1.00, Second – 80p, Third – 50p
2025 Entry criteria
The entry criteria has been extended to include those who hold allotments in the parish but do not reside in the parish.
Entries are welcome from those who meet one (or more) of the following criteria:
- be Resident or holder of an allotment in the Parish of Old Basing & Lychpit, or
- be in permanent education or employment in the Parish of Old Basing & Lychpit, or
- have a parent, partner’s parent or grandparent resident or working in the Parish of Old Basing & Lychpit
NOTE: The only exception is that entrants for Class 1 must reside in the parish.
2025 Entry deadlines
- Class 1 A photograph of your hanging basket or planter. To be taken during July or August 2025 and to be emailed to
no later than midnight on Sunday 31st August 2025.. No late entries are permitted for this class. - All other classes 10.00pm on Wednesday 3rd September 2025..
- Late entries (except Class 1) 10.00pm on Friday 5th September.
2025 Show Day - key times
- The Village Hall is open at 8.00am for exhibitors to stage their entries.
- The Hall closes to exhibitors at 10.15am and judging commences. Only judges, stewards and committee members are allowed in the Hall during judging.
- The Hall opens to the public at 2.30pm.
- Prize giving starts at 4.00pm.
