2021 Show News
9th November 2021 The Show AGM was held in the Pavilion Tea Room, Recreation Ground. Please click here for a brief summary of the AGM.
5th September 2021 Thanks to everyone who exhibited and attended the Show and congratulations to the winners. Photos from the Show seen on the 2021 gallery page. Thanks also to everyone who entered Class 1, the on-line class for photos of a hanging basket or planter. Entries and winners can be seen on the 2021 Class 1 gallery page.
There were reduced entry numbers and all classes were exhibited in the main hall, with a one way system in operation and lots of fresh air. Everybody seemed to enjoy the day and the committee was pleased to welcome several new entrants to the Show. The raffle did well and thanks to the local businesses who supported the Show. The Vicar, Rev Heather Leppard, presented the prizes to the winners of the adult classes and the children to loud applause.
The committee decided to keep all exhibits in the main hall and not use the stage, balcony or Frank Goddard Room as in the past. The table layout was changed with tables round the outside of the hall and a double row of tables down the length of the centre leaving plenty of room for people to socially distance whilst viewing the exhibits. For safety reasons it was decided not to have the usual refreshments, tombola or auction and the raffle format was also changed. Sanitiser was provided and entrants and visitors were encouraged to use it and to wear face masks. A board was put up outside asking anyone with Covid symptoms not to come into the hall.
The committee thanks all who attended and we all look forward to 2022.
June 2021 The WI invited the Show committee to hold a plant sale outside Lychpit Village Hall to co-incide with its summer sale. Thanks to everyone who donated and to everyone who came along to buy plants. The Show committee also made an appearance at the St Mary’s Summer Festival; thanks to everyone who came along to see our display.
